Throwback Thread: Snoop Dogg
During the Cavs opener Tuesday, I watched Shaq suit up for my home team. That's weird. What's even more shocking? Big man has been playing for 17 years, entering the league in the 1992-93 season. This is how old I am: I remember Shaq as a rookie.
In the spirit of dealing with my advancing middle-age-ness, here's another look back at 1992-93. This was also the year of Snoop Dogg's classic statement of purpose, Doggystyle, which I also remember coming out.
Though sent to bed, I would stay up quietly listening to a clock radio during Jammin' 92.3 FM's nightly rundown of hot hip-hop tracks. Both this and "Gin and Juice," the album's seminal singles, became a big part of my life. This was how a naive suburban kid fell asleep in sixth grade -- to dreams of gin, juice, house parties and not giving a heck.
