What I Ate: McCormick & Schmick's, Where the Wildly Fresh Fish Are

Grilled scallops with an attention-getting chili sauce and a sweet potato-corn hash studded with andouille sausage and bits of poblano pepper

Seafood trio with a perfectly cooked lobster tail, impressively fresh grilled halibut and one of the best crabcakes in town (real "Baltimore" style)

Sure M&S is a chain restaurant in a mall, but it transcends those trappings by having an actual full-time chef, super fresh seafood and some of the friendliest bartenders around. Plus, they offer lots of perks like great happy hour deals, free birthday meals for "Preferred Guest" members (one of these entrees & a dessert were on the house) and service that's above and beyond the call of duty.

After this munch, I went to see Where the Wild Things Are, which is based on the first book I became obsessed with. It is a great and even original movie that propelled me back to a thrillingly dangerous and wild time when most of the self-centered and sad, sad monsters could seemingly be contained within my head.
