What To Do Wednesday: Surfer Blood, Megadeth

My top pick for Wednesday is Surfer Blood, a South Beach indie rock band best described as "like the Shins, only nastier." For an expansion on this theme, read my preview from last week. (There's also a bit of a My Morning Jacket/Band of Horses feel going on.) At The Summit, 2210 Summit St., they'll be joining forces with the Terrible Twos, a Detroit combo that's grown from punk prodigies into something a little more artsy, a bit more melodic and slightly more keyboard-centric but still punk-rock nonetheless. Tin Armor provides the local support, as they often do. 8 p.m. doors, $5 cover.

Then of course there's Megadeth, who I always thought weren't much competition for Metallica, but whose latest, Endgame, is way better than anything Metallica has released in years. Joining Dave Mustaine and company at LC Pavilion, 405 Neil Ave., will be Arcanium, Machine Head and Suicide Silence. Doors open at 6 p.m., and tickets cost $35.
