Skylab and The Shelf, located on different floors at 57 E. Gay St., are hosting quite the smorgasbord of music tonight. Upstairs, Daniel Higgs of Lungfish will perform, as will Stellar Om Source, aka "electronic musician and visionary artist Christelle Gualdi." Just as notable, though, is resident Skylab musician/artist/administrator dude John Also Bennett collaborating with his father, avant garde poet John M. Bennett, for the first time. This all starts around 8:30 p.m.

Downstairs at The Shelf, they've got Tiny Fights, Idiot Glee, Mulan Serrico and house band Jam Division. 10 p.m. sharp start time for this. $5 donation at the door. More on the Shelf show here.

On a much different note, American Idol fans might want to head to The Basement, 391 Neil Ave., to see Jason Castro (aka that dude with dreadlocks) open for Matt Hires. Caitlin Crosby (no relation to David) will play too. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $10.
