Local Love: Karate Coyote

Columbus Alive

You know Karate Coyote. In the past two years, they've become one of the most recognizable bands in Columbus thanks to CD101 airplay, print and online media love and a concert schedule that's paired them with a wide range of acts.

What you may not know about the band is they're getting better. The newest recordings on debut full-length "Inner Animals" are the finest; take "Tunnels" for example. It doesn't fool around, rampaging straight into the valley then climbing back out with a buildup more gorgeous than I realized they could pull off. Developing daily, this bunch. Hear it at MySpace.

Check my feature then head to Skully's, 1151 N. High St., for tonight's album release show with This Is My Suitcase, DJ Self Help and Stretch Lefty, who'll also release a new EP tonight. 9 p.m., $5.
