What To Do Thursday: Leslie Keffer, GEU

Two more Ohio releases of note will see the light tonight:

Noise royalty/Thurston Moore collaborator Leslie Keffer, whose mechanized drones can be heard above in a performance from 2006, will be collaborating with Scott Martin to celebrate her new LP with somebody called Robedoor. I can't even pretend to know anything about these artists or this music except that Keffer used to live in Athens and often opened for various punk and garage bands at The Union when I was at OU. I do know a thing or two about Cheater Slicks, though, and the gnarly garage greats will be playing this shindig too, plus electro-acoustic experimentalist Mike Shiflet and something called Detersivo. It's at Skylab, 57 E. Gay St., of course. $5.

Then there's The George Elliot Underground, who are throwing the first of two release shows this week for their "Summer Of Weird" EP. Tonight's edition is at Circus, 1227 N. High St., where the glammy riff-rockers will be joined by Love Culture, Alert New London and Milwaukee's The Wildbirds.
