Columbus Symphony -- new maestro, old video

Yesterday the Columbus Symphony announced its new, amply-chest-haired music director, Jean-Marie Zeitouni (who, the Dispatch was sure to report, is single and looking to live in Columbus). His first appearance as maestro will be at the performance of Scheherazade this Saturday and Sunday at the Ohio Theatre.

It's good to see the symphony getting its classical-themed groove back after nearly collapsing a couple years ago. To celebrate, here's an old promo video the orchestra used in the seventies. Opera lovers will enjoy seeing a young Marilyn Horne, Columbus lovers will see old landmarks, and, for the rest of you, check out the "sunbathers" around 4:41.
