Starting at midnight Oct. 30, new editions of Nite Owl Theatre will screen on the last Saturday of every month at the Grandview Theatre, 1247 Grandview Ave.

The re-launch will evoke the spirit of the program’s classic run from 1974-1991 on WBNS. The show, which later bounced to other local stations, featured bespectacled host Fritz “The Nite Owl” Peerenboom introducing scary movies, doing monologues and even appearing in the films thanks to rudimentary special effects.

The new episodes also will appear online at For a primer, check out this great profile of Fritz.
