Patton Oswalt finally gets his own show

He's one of the funniest men on the planet, so it's no surprise that Patton Oswalt is getting his own show. It shouldn't have taken this long. Fox has optioned the project which will be headed up by Oswalt and "Mr. Show" writer Scott Aukerman.

It centers on a middle-aged man (Oswalt) who's wife of 20 years recently divorced him and now he has to learn to learn to do things for himself, including dating. This doesn't seem like a wholly original concept--reminds me of Louis C.K.'s brilliant first season of "Louie"--but Oswalt and Aukerman alone have me excited.

Also, anyone who saw Oswalt in "Big Fan" knows he call pull off the more dramatic stuff as well, so maybe there will be some darker stuff on the fringe, even though it's still Fox. One can only hope.
