Writers Guild announces TV nominations
These awards slightly differ from the Emmys--focused purely on the writing aspect of television and account for the calendar year, not the TV season--so there are some differences.
What's pretty much the same are the majority of the nominees. "Mad Men" and "Breaking Bad" (deservedly) dominate the drama field while "Glee," "Modern Family," "The Office" and "30 Rock" (undeservedly) earned most of the nominations in the comedy flied. What, no "Community" or "Parks & Rec?!"
Worst snub of all is that "Terriers" didn't get nominated for best new series while "Men of a Certain Age" and "The Walking Dead" did. Both those shows are good, but "Men" is buoyed by the acting performances more than the writing and "Dead" was too short a season and too inconsistent. Oh well, "Terriers" just can't catch a break.
