State fair music lineup is in a less-than-fair state (even with Meat Loaf in the mix)

The Ohio State Fair announced its annual music lineup this week, and it's quite the letdown for anyone born after 1977. Last year's lineup was surprisingly hip, with Devo and Weezer among the performers. (OK, Weezer might only be hip by state fair standards, but Weezer is the Animal Collective of the state fair circuit.)

I was psyched to see Meat Loaf on this year's docket, but the rest of these concerts leave me cold. Sure, Brad Paisley is an upgrade from Rascal Flatts for the big fair-ending country concert at Crew Stadium, and I've got mad respect for acts like Loretta Lynn and the O'Jays. Still, there's nothing here that makes me say, "Wow!" There is, however, the promise of "several acts yet to be announced."
