Hour-long finales for Community and Parks and Recreation

NBC announced its finale schedule yesterday and the best news is "Community" and "Parks and Recreation" will get hour-long finales. The other Thursday night comedies "30 Rock" and "The Office" — "Outsourced and "Perfect Couples" don't count as comedies because they're not funny — will also get a full hour episodes this spring.

No offense to "30 Rock" which is having a pretty good season and its hour-long treatment will be for the 100th episode, but that news pales in comparison to what will surely be awesome finales for the best two comedies on television right now. I suspect "The Office" is getting an hour-long finale just so it doesn't feel left out because Steve Carell's exit will happen before the finale. At least Will Ferrell will guest star in Carell's finale episodes.

The "Community" finale, airing May 12 at 8 p.m., will be a sequel to last season’s glorious paintball episode and "Lost's" Josh Holloway will guest star. "Parks and Recreation" will air the following Thursday at 10 p.m. after "The Office's" finale at 9. The hour-long 100th episode of "30 Rock" will air April 21. Let's hope it's not another live episode.
