Three Style things to try this weekend, Sept. 28 edition
1. Shop for art.
Head to Igloo Letterpress in Worthington for the printing press' third anniversary bazaar. In addition to Igloo's darling stationary and paper goods designs, you can shop some of the brand's favorite local designers, who will be set up in booths in the store's parking lot. Among those you'll see tomorrow are Made by Amy D, Suzy Ultman Designs, Will Ruocco Art & Design, Grace Hester Designs and Stella and Dot. Saturday is also Worthington's Market Day, so many more art, craft and food vendors will be just steps away.
2. Shop for sexy.
Tonight at 7 p.m. begins the closing reception for Wholly Craft's show of work from local textile artist Meghan Willis' "States of Undress" series. The series features embroideries of women undressing. They are at once feminine and ladylike and rebellious and subversive. Her husband, Aaron Driggers, shoots photographs of the scenes in the embroideries first, which, Willis then uses as a template for the embroidery. Sadly, the creative couple is leaving Columbus soon for the concrete pastures of New York City, so tonight's reception is a wonderful and soon-to-be-uncommon chance to view her work and meet her in person. One of these would make a great piece of wall art, too.
It's getting cold outside, baby, and you'll soon be spending a lot more time looking at those walls of yours. Check out this Buzzfeed roundup of 39 easy ways to create DIY art for your walls. My faves include "Hang a scarf" and "Sequin your walls." Way more fun than fall cleaning.
