In April the Columbus Economic and Community Development Institute awarded a local entrepreneur with a grant to open his or her business, with the intention to spark retail and community activity downtown. This Friday marks the grand opening of the business that won-Seven Studios.

Seven Studios is a wellness studio and retreat center that will offer yoga, pilates, bootcamp fitness and life-coaching classes. ECDI awarded Seven Studios' founder, Julie Wilkes, with free rent of a 1,100-square-foot space one block south of the Columbus Commons, as well as advertising money and business mentoring classes.

Check out the grand opening (Friday, info below), and stop by for a 4 p.m. "Cause Yoga" class on Sunday during the summer; the free classes will take donations to be given to cancer-fighting organizations.
