Coop café coming to Clintonville

I lived on Indianola Avenue just south of Cliffside Drive from 2009-2010, so when the acclaimed food truck The Coop started posting up in the parking lot at that intersection after I had already moved, I was bummed to have just missed easy access to Yak Burgers and the like. The Coop, owned and operated by former Alana's sous chef Angie Theado, later opted to keep the truck on the move for special events and madeGerman Village's longstanding Hey Hey Bar & Grill its permanent home. But on July 10 Theado announced the end of her Hey Hey partnership andpromised a move back to the old location. You might think that means she's bringing back the truck, but today she revealed plans for something more extensive and less mobile:Coop café is coming to Clintonville.

As you can see from the artist's rendering, the abandoned building and parking lot where The Coop used to roost will be transformed into a brick-and-mortar restaurant, continuing the beer-and-foodie development that has taken Indianola (and Clintonville at large) by storm lately. Speaking of which, the website for nearby Savor Growlis listed on Coop café's Facebook page, so it looks like the two businesses are partnering to make this thing happen - and with Savor on board, it'll probably have (mighty fine) beer. No word yet about when Coopcafé will open for business, but we'll post updates here if any info emerges today.
