FOR MAXIMUM FUN: Alive editor picks this weekend's best stuff
FRIDAY
John Vanderslice
It'll be hard for Vanderslice to top his election night performance at Tree Bar almost exactly a year ago. But that's not a knock against him. That performance was simply captivating, as our own Chris DeVille described in his show review, and not just because he performed on a tree stump (regretfully, Chris didn't use a pun about politics and stumping). A&R isn't quite as intimate, but a performer of Vanderslice's capabilities shouldn't have a problem playing to the room.

SATURDAY
Brian Ewing's "Horror Business"
As tempted as I am to pick Blue Oyster Cult's performance at Hollywood Casino as my top recommendation for Saturday, I simply can't pass up the opportunity to see Brian Ewing's "Horror Business" in person at Gallery Hop. I'll go for pretty much the horror posters alone.
Quay Brothers introduce "UN)MISTAKEN HANDS: EX VOTO F.H."

Blue Jackets vs. Penguins
SUNDAY
Ender's Game
I've been waiting for this movie adaptation for more than a decade. According to Brad Keefe's review, I probably would have been better to keep waiting. STILL. I'll go. I'll probably complain about it endlessly. And somewhere, possibly deep deep deep down inside, I'll be losing my ish.
