Smokehouse brews Fussy Sipper pumpkin peach ale in response to Budweiser Super Bowl ad
Did you catch the Budweiser Super Bowl commercial, the one poking fun at the bearded hipsters fussing over craft beers like "pumpkin peach ales?"
In response to Budweiser's declaration that they are proudly macro-brewed, Smokehouse Brewing Co. brewed a pumpkin peach ale and they're calling it "Fussy Sipper" (the name is even trademarked). Fussy Sipper was brewed as a Belgian Dubbel clocking in around 7.4% ABV.
The brew has been bottle conditioned and will be released at the brewpub first-come, first-served at 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 7. Only 23 bottles are available total; they're retailing at $10 apiece.
To drive the point home, Smokehouse owner Lenny Kolada mailed a letter to Anheuser-Busch CEO Thomas W. Santel and to Kevin Lee, manager of the Columbus production plant. The letter breaks down the Budweiser commercial line by line, eventually telling Santel, "While you brew golden suds, we'll be on a parallel track brewing liquid fuss."
