Editor's picks: 24 things to do this weekend

Staff Writer
Columbus Alive

Winter's reached back out to us from beyond the grave, which is to say, this weekend's weather sucks. Stay inside if you can. Go to some shows. Eat some brunch. Watch some movies. As always, here's what I'd do this weekend if I could be everywhere all the time.

Scarface at Xclusive Elite Entertainment Center

It's a good week for hip-hop concerts in Columbus. Start yours with Scarface on Friday, move on to J. Cole Tuesday, then hit up the Vince Staples/Earl Sweatshirt show Thursday, April 2. Oh, and there's a breakin' battle Saturday that sounds hella fun.

Second Annual Fools Parade Benefit Show & Bake Sale feat. The Washington Beach Bums, Cliffs and Feature Films at Ace of Cups

Black Planet with DJs Scott + Erin Void at Cafe Bourbon St.

"Don Quixote: A pilgrimage" at Van Fleet Theatre

"My Rock Stars Experimental, Volume 1" at Wexner Center for the Arts

Watch the much-hyped "best horror flick in a decade" "It Follows"

Visiting Filmmaker Josephine Decker introduces "Butter on the Latch" at the Wexner Center for the Arts

Women Aloud at Dude Locker

Three of this year's five Columbus Alive Bands to Watch were fronted by women. In other words, it's no secret to us that women are putting out some of the best music in the city. We're thrilled all that wonderful talent's been gathered in one place for a day of poets, painters and punks.

Explore this year's Best of Columbus winners

You might find fault with some of the winners Alive readers picked in this year's Best of Columbus, but the reader poll still serves as a great guide to the best the city has to offer, particularly if you include the top three finishers of each category.

Warmth pop-up brunch at Ace of Cups

The last Warmth pop-up brunch featured, perhaps, the best vegan breakfast sandwich I've ever had. (Unless you count Angry Baker's vegan Reuben a breakfast sandwich, which I sometimes do.) I can't wait to see what chef Lara Pipia comes up with this weekend.

"Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief" on HBO

"Wild Tales" at the Drexel Theater

Astronomy on Tap at Brothers Drake Meadery & Bar

Steve Gunn, Ryley Walker and more at Spacebar
